Aspiro completes $21 million renovation project at Green Bay location

Posted

GREEN BAY – On Tuesday, August 4, Aspiro — a nonprofit serving individuals with disabilities and their families — celebrated the completion of the $21 million renovation project at its Green Bay campus, located on Dousman Street.

Aspiro’s mission is to help community members with developmental or physical disabilities live the life they choose — offering job preparedness and placement programs, education, caregiving services and more to support them along the way.

The groundbreaking ceremony for this project was held in September 2025, marking a quick turnaround for clients and families to enjoy the updated space.

“Just months ago, we stood here to mark the beginning of this journey — a bold $21 million investment in the future of Aspiro. Today, we stand together in a completed space that reflects who we are, what we believe and what is possible,” said Aspiro President Ryan Ruzziconi. “This is more than a building. It is a statement: that every individual deserves the opportunity to ‘live their way.’”

The renovation features updated, modernized spaces, as well as new ones, including classrooms, a music room, a gymnasium, an art studio, a new nurses’ station and a dementia-friendly suite. Roofing, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems were also updated — ensuring the building is operational for many years to come.

“Since the beginning, the project was all about creating a new space that brought in light, freshened the interior of the building and improved the functionality to better fit Aspiro’s needs…” said Anders Sandli, senior project architect with Somerville Architects & Engineers. “It has been an honor for our team to partner with Aspiro on this amazing project.”

Joe Harvey, vice president of construction at Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, added that the team is proud of the work they’ve accomplished and excited to welcome the future of Aspiro.

“Over the past 11 months, this has been more than a construction project — it has been a partnership focused on creating a space that will truly make a difference,” Harvey said. “From foundational upgrades to modern systems to the creation of new program areas, every phase of construction was guided by one goal: building a safe, inspiring environment for the people that Aspiro serves.”

Harvey then led in the presentation of a dedication plaque to recognize Aspiro’s passion and dedication to serving the community.

Next, chairman of Aspiro’s Beyond Expectations capital campaign Rick Chernick commented on the tremendous impact Aspiro’s services can have on clients.

“As someone who has seen Aspiro’s impact firsthand for decades, I can tell you this is big,” Chernick said. “Aspiro is more than a building. It’s a place to grow, to belong and feel safe being who you are. With this new building, even more individuals will have the opportunity to experience that same sense of independence, connection and joy in the future.”
