Brown County to introduce Safety Action Plan on July 24

Posted

BROWN COUNTY –Brown County municipalities, in conjunction with the Brown County Highway Department, will present their efforts to develop a county-wide traffic Safety Action Plan during a July 24 public information meeting.

“We’re committed to improving safety throughout the county on the local road system,” Brown County Highway Commissioner Chris Hardy stated. “As we begin this study, we’re focused on listening to our communities to help shape safer streets for everyone who walks, bikes or drives in Brown County – especially on the roads right in their own neighborhoods.”

“This Safety Action Plan is part of the County’s work under the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) initiative, and it builds upon the 2018 County Highway System Safety Plan to take a data-driven, community-informed approach to improving roadway safety with a focus on the local road system,” a county release stated.

“In addition to the meeting, Brown County will launch a community-wide survey to gather feedback on safety issues specific to local streets and roads, and will host a second public involvement meeting in the fall to continue gathering input for the Safety Action Plan.”

The meeting will take place July 24, 4-6 p.m., at the De Pere Community Center, with a virtual option from 6-7 p.m.

“The meeting will be held in an open-house format, meaning attendees can drop in at any time between 4-6 p.m. to review exhibits, ask questions and provide input on safety concerns in their own communities. A virtual session from 6-7 p.m. will offer another opportunity for the public to participate remotely,” the release added.

All materials will be posted on the county’s project website following the meeting.
