GREEN BAY – Jim Schmitt announced this week that he would be running for mayor of Green Bay in the April 2027 election — a position he previously held from 2003-2019.
“Green Bay has changed,” Schmitt said in a Facebook post following his announcement. “The work ahead is different, and it calls for leadership that shows up, listens, and gets the work done. I am running to bring practical plans and accountable execution to the work in front of us… This will be a Green Bay-first campaign, focused on the everyday work of making our city stronger.”
Schmitt said his top priorities would include “stronger neighborhoods, more paths to homeownership, a humane and effective response to homelessness, responsive City Hall and opportunity for students, workers, and local employers.”
