Future 15: Kathryn Marten

Posted

GREEN BAY – “I’m passionate about connecting students with high-impact experiences that will help them meaningfully grow during college and prepare for their future careers,” said Kathryn Marten.

In her current role as student and community engagement coordinator for the UW-Green Bay Cofrin School of Business, she leads programs such as the Mentoring Project, Research Intensive Student Experience (RISE), Innovation On-Ramp, the Student Run Business Organization, pitch competitions and Transcripts to Resumes, in addition to High Impact Practice assessment and research.

Marten grew up in Wausau and earned a masters in education in student affairs administration of higher education from UW-La Crosse in 2020 and a bachelors in psychology and cross-cultural studies from Augsburg University in 2016.

“I am also currently a student at UW-Green Bay pursuing a doctorate of education in applied leadership with an emphasis in higher education,” Marten said.

“Moving to Green Bay and finding my place at UW-Green Bay has been life-changing for me. Five years ago I never would have guessed that I would be living here, changing lives through experiential education,” she said.

“I believe in meeting people where they’re at and tailoring the support and guidance that they need to be successful and take on their next challenge. I also try to be honest and transparent whenever possible with the people I lead. It’s much easier for everyone to move forward towards a common goal if we are all on the same page understanding why that goal is important and how we can use our various strengths to get there together.”

Marten added that she is fortunate to have many role models and supporters.
“First and foremost, I would not be who I am today or where I am today without my husband, Mitchell Marten. Mitchell has been constantly supportive as we’ve built our dreams and our life together,” Marten added.

“I’m also so grateful for my parents, who taught me the value of hard work, taking breaks when needed, and who constantly challenged me growing up to ‘go MAD’ (Make A Difference).”

Leading up to the 2025 Future 15 & Young Professionals Awards banquet on Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Oneida Casino Hotel, we will be highlighting the finalists in each edition of the Press Times.
