WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Green Bay men’s basketball team kept it close through the first half, but eventually fell 92-58 to the Georgetown Hoyas on the road on Nov. 12.
The Phoenix (0-2) had two players score in double figures, led by Clarence Cummings III, who had 14 points and three steals. Zae Blake added 13 points off of the bench for Green Bay.
Nate Jenkins started the game with a 3-pointer at the 19:25 mark, giving Green Bay an early 3-0 lead. After playing to a 12-12 tie, Green Bay went on a 7-0 run with 11:01 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Randy Tucker that gave Green Bay a 19-12 lead.
Georgetown responded with a run of its own, rattling off a 19-5 run to grab a 31-24 lead with 1:10 left in the half. Tucker and Donovan Short contributed late buckets to bring the Phoenix within two at the half 31-29.
