Fringe is returning to Northeast Wisconsin!
The second annual Green Bay Fringe Festival will take place July 17-20 between nine downtown venues, including The Depot, Lion’s Mouth Book Store, The Art Garage, Kompound, St. Brendan’s, Captain’s Walk, Let Me Be Frank’s Rehearsal Space, The Tarlton Theatre and Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary.
This highly anticipated event will feature 38 acts from eight different states, offering a wide range of performances including dance, music, comedy, circus performance and more.
The festival, returning for the second year, promises again to be a celebration of diverse art forms, bringing together artists and audiences for an unforgettable experience.
The Green Bay Fringe Festival aims to create a unique platform for non-mainstream performances and educational events, fostering meaningful conversations and celebrating the arts.
“Northeastern Wisconsin has spent the last 20 years growing a vibrant music, art and theatre scene. We’re excited to bring the Fringe Festival setting back to Green Bay and continue to build on that groundwork,” said Matt Worzala, festival organizer and vice president of Green Bay Fringe.
For many attendees, this festival will provide an initiation to Fringe.
The original Fringe Festival, in Edinburgh, Scotland, began in 1947 as an alternative to the Edinburgh International Festival.
The International Festival was conceived with the goal of bringing curated high-culture to the city in the form of musical acts and the performing arts.
Fringe cropped up as an alternative fest for those acts that showed up uninvited and wanted somewhere to perform anyway.
Whatever venues were available — theaters, galleries, bars, shops and more — housed these acts and a new festival was born.
