State and local leaders, including State Rep. Ryan Spaude, State Sen. Jamie Wall, and Rooted in Inc. Executive Director Selena Darrow held an emergency press conference at Green Bay City Hall on Thursday, Oct. 30 to address the critical delay in November's FoodShare (SNAP) benefits due to the federal government shutdown.
Nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites, including 260,000 kids, rely on this aid. Representatives from Rooted In Inc. and Feeding America: Eastern Wisconsin emphasized that the delay will immediately strain local food pantries.
The community needs immediate help: Officials are urgently calling for donations and volunteers to ensure Green Bay's food banks can meet the surge in demand and keep our neighbors fed.
