Grooves on the Green to return to Green Bay parks this summer

Posted

Grooves on the Green, an outdoor concert series presented in partnership between the city of Green Bay, Green Bay Neighborhoods and the Tarlton Theatre, will return for a second year of music and community.

Grooves on the Green grew out of a vision to bring music deeper into Green Bay’s neighborhoods.

“Grooves on the Green started as a simple idea, but one that meant a lot to me,” said City Alder Ben Delie.

While Green Bay has “incredible music events” downtown and in Astor Park, Delie asked, “What about the rest of our city? What about the neighborhoods, the parks tucked into every corner of Green Bay that don’t always get to experience that same energy?”

“I wanted to create something that brings live, local music directly into our neighborhoods, into parks that may not typically host events like this,” Delie said. “This isn’t just about music. It’s about connection. It’s about building stronger neighborhood associations and even sparking new ones where they may not exist yet.”

This year’s lineup includes the following concerts:

June 12: Mather Heights Park, 1280 Richardson St

June 26: Bay View Park, 1137 Vanderbraak St

July 10: Badger Park, 1780 Badger St

July 24: Three Sisters Park, 1311 Chief Hill Dr

August 7: Jackson Square Park, 300 S Monroe Ave

August 21: Murphy Park, 1627 Dousman St

September 4: VT Pride Park, 2203 Imperial Ln

All concerts will run from 6-8 p.m.

“I wanted to create something that brings live, local music directly into our neighborhoods, into parks that may not typically host events like this,” Delie said. “Places where families live, where kids play, where neighbors pass by each other every day but maybe don’t always have a reason to stop, connect and truly engage.”

“When Alder Delie reached out last year with the concept of the Grooves on the Green series, the Tarlton Theatre signed on immediately,” said Tarl Knight, owner of the Tarlton Theatre and chair of Green Bay Neighborhoods. “In partnership between Green Bay Neighborhoods and the city of Green Bay, we presented five concerts throughout our city with a mission of reaching a variety of outstanding performers based locally in our town and activating our city’s beautiful parks and green spaces with culture, cuisine and community… Our concert series also became an opportunity to connect hundreds of neighbors together and inspire the activation of new neighborhood associations throughout Green Bay.”

“I invite everyone, come out, bring a chair or a blanket, enjoy some amazing local musicians and food trucks and most importantly, take the time to engage with your neighbors,” Delie said. “Visit a park you may have never been to before. Be part of something that’s bigger than just a night of music. Because when we come together, when we invest in our neighborhoods, that’s when community truly thrives. And that’s what Grooves on the Green is all about.”
