Holiday trees lit at Green Bay Airport

Posted

The Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB) showcased its Arts Program Holiday Tree Decorating Contest this past Monday with its third annual tree lighting ceremony.

Each year, community organizations and local artists help transform artificial evergreens into festive decorations for travelers and visitors to admire.
This year’s entries shined brightly as they provided a comforting sense of community spirit and festive joy.

“Decorating trees and holding a lighting ceremony brings people together in a genuine, grounding way,” said GRB Airport Director Marty Piette, A.A.E. “The holiday season is busy and traveling from place to place can be stressful. We want to offer visitors a moment to pause, connect and embrace the season in a creative way.”

In response to the overwhelming talent and enthusiasm from the community, GRB’s annual tree decorating contest expanded to include two additional trees this year.

This change provided even more participants the opportunity to share their unique vision and contribute to a display that celebrates the local Green Bay community and surrounding areas. The 2025 decorated trees include Grand Lobby: Mulva Cultural Center, Ticket Lobby: Abimael Dejesus, Concourse A: Jes Beauchamp, Concourse B: Children’s Museum of Green Bay, Baggage Claim: Salvation Army.

“As a community, it is our goal for visitors to feel a sense of warmth, hospitality and belonging as we welcome them to our city,” said Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. “This tradition brings a shared joy for those who participate and those who admire. You can’t help but feel a sense of togetherness when you watch the trees light up.”

The trees will be displayed throughout the airport during the holiday season for all to enjoy.
