Huddle For Heroes

ASHWAUBENON – A handful of Green Bay Packers players got together at The Turn in the Titletown District on Tuesday afternoon to spend time with a room full of local Veterans.

Part of the team’s Salute to Service initiative, the event featured comments from more than a half dozen current and former Packers, including Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Chris Gizzi, who played his college ball at Air Force before entering the NFL as a Denver Bronco. He spent his first two seasons honoring his commitment to the Military.

Gizzi played in 23 games for the Packers in 2000-01 before he got into coaching.

The 50 or so Veterans in attendance also enjoyed hearing from Aaron Jones, whose mother, Vurgess, was in the front row.

Mrs. Jones spent 27 years in the Army before retiring as a Sergeant Major.

Aaron’s father, Alvin Sr., who passed away in 2021, had a career in the US Army that spanned 29 years before he retired as a Command Sergeant Major.
