WEST DE PERE – Dr. Jason Lau has been named the newest superintendent of the School District of West De Pere.
Lau will begin his position following the retirement of current superintendent Dennis Krueger.
Lau began his work in education as a school psychologist at the Milwaukee Public Schools system. He would later serve as the director of pupil services and school psychologist at Kohler School District before moving to the School District of West De Pere (WDP) in 2002.
At WDP, Lau has held many roles, beginning as the director of student services, becoming principal of Phantom Knight School of Opportunity in 2007 and then principal of Westwood Elementary School in 2010.
Lau said he was driven toward his newest position because of his work with “great board members, administrators, teachers, students and community members” as well as “the possibility of being able to continue and enhance the initiatives we have put in place that have benefited our students.”
Lau said his goal “is to build on the strong tradition of the school district and to facilitate its continued growth I would like to collaborate with the school board, administration, teachers, support staff, and community to leverage the talent we have in the district.
“I believe if we unleash the talent of our staff, our students will be able to unlock their full potential,” he said.
“I am humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to serve the School District of West De Pere. There will be challenges in the future, but every challenge presents an opportunity for growth and improvement. I have no question that the talent within the district will allow us to continue to be a premiere district that is dedicated to meeting the needs of all students.”
