SUAMICO – The Bay Port Pirates bounced back in a big way Friday night, rolling past the Green Bay Preble Hornets 55-6 to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Senior running back Brady Moon was the star of the show, racking up five touchdowns as Bay Port seized control early and never looked back.
The Pirates set the tone with a six-yard scoring run from Moon just two and a half minutes into the game.
Minutes later, he broke free for a 31-yard touchdown, and with another 33-yard run late in the quarter, Bay Port stormed to a 21-0 lead.
Momentum stayed firmly in Bay Port’s favor in the second quarter.
Quarterback Matt Stevens connected with Brady Suda on an eight-yard touchdown pass before Moon added his fourth score of the half.
Preble managed to get on the board with a kickoff return touchdown from Jackson Flowers, but the Hornets missed the extra point, trailing 35-6 at halftime.
Moon wasn’t done yet.
He powered in his fifth touchdown from one yard out midway through the third quarter, showcasing the Pirates’ dominance on the ground.
Bay Port capped the night with two more scores: an 18-yard run by Ramon Huston and a late touchdown from Jackson Smith, sealing the decisive 55-6 victory.
Head coach Steven Jorgensen praised his team’s fast start and focus.
“I’m just proud of the way we came out,” Jorgensen said. “We wanted to come out and play a four-quarter game. We have a really talented team and I wanted to see us handle business right away. I’m glad our guys did that.”
Jorgensen emphasized the importance of discipline moving forward.
“We want to play clean football—if you don’t, that catches up with you down the road in big games,” he said. “We have a team that wants to get better every week, so they want hard coaching. We’ll look at the film and see how we did.”
For Moon, the performance was not just about individual stats but about rebounding as a team.
“I’m proud of the way we played today,” Moon said. “We responded really well after our tough loss last week. Ultimately, it was a great team win, and I was pretty proud. The O-line did really awesome—that’s the reason why I had five touchdowns. It’s pretty sweet.”
With the loss, Preble drops to 2-1 and will look to regroup against West De Pere next week.
Bay Port, meanwhile, will try to keep its momentum rolling when it faces Appleton West.
