How did you get started playing your sport?
My dad played in college and is a tennis coach, so I started at a young age.
How has the balance between academics and athletics changed for you from freshman to senior year?
My freshman year I struggled with the practices everyday after school and the constant missed school because I wasn’t great at managing my time with homework. Now, I’m used to finding time to study and get my homework done as well as catch up on anything I may have missed on the days I compete.
What is your favorite part about this sport? What is the most challenging part about this sport?
My favorite part about tennis is all the strategy and technique that goes into matches. I feel like it requires a lot of time and thought during the point which keeps the game entertaining. The most challenging part about the sport is that you can’t be perfect. There will be lots of mistakes made in the match, but it won’t just be one mistake that determines the match.
What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?
My most memorable experience in high school is winning the tiebreak 10-8 in the semifinals of state my sophomore year! I was so nervous, but it was such a rewarding experience.
Do you have a bucket list goal that pertains to your sport?
How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?
As a senior I’m more confident in myself and my tennis game than my confidence level from when I was a freshman. It’s crazy to look back at clips from when I was younger and see all of the progress I have made throughout my career in high school.
Do you have any pre-game rituals/routines/superstitions?
Before my matches, I do a pre-game dynamic warmup and stretching in order to prepare.
Dream vacation destination?
Paris.
Any quotes that help you in your sport or life in general?
“It’s not over until it’s over.”
Favorite food?
Any hobbies outside of your sport?
I like reading and spending time with my friends and family.
Favorite movie/TV show?
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to shout out?
My dad who’s been my coach since I was four years old and is a huge supporter of mine. He’s taught me everything I know today and I couldn’t be more thankful!
Future Plans? (college, major, career, etc.)
I am currently undecided for what college, but I want to major in pre-med and maybe minor in psychology so I can pursue a career as a child psychiatrist.
