How did you get started playing your sport?
My parents first put me in YMCA soccer when I was four years old. I started playing basketball in third grade when Fast Break started.
How has the balance between academics and athletics changed for you from freshman to senior year?
During my freshman year, I struggled with learning how to balance my academics and athletics because I had a much bigger workload than what I had been used to. It definitely took some time, but I was able to figure out what worked best for me. Every year moving forward, my workload has continued to get larger since I was able to take more college credit classes and knowing how to manage my time by that point made it easier to balance.
What is your favorite part of this sport?
My favorite part of both soccer and basketball is the people I have met and the friendships I have made. I also like how playing soccer and basketball keeps me active year-round while doing something that is fun to do and I love.
What is the most challenging part of this sport?
Staying disciplined is probably the most challenging part because it is important to have fun, but you are also there to get better and try your best to make your contributions to help your team succeed. More importantly, staying disciplined off of the field and the court is important in order to keep your body healthy and help the recovery process after intense workouts, practices, and games. Doing things like eating right to fuel your body, making sure you go to bed at a reasonable hour to get enough sleep, stretching and doing mobility, and using your free time to get the important things done, like homework, instead of doing what you’d rather be doing.
What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?
Do you have a bucket list goal that pertains to your sport?
I want to continue to get fully back in soccer shape and prepare to play at UWSP.
Do you have any pre-game rituals/routines/superstitions?
I always have some kind of smoothie, usually from Bona Fide, as my pre-game fuel and I usually take a nap. I also do my pre-game stretching and mobility with my laces untied.
Dream vacation destination?
The Maldives, Turks and Caicos, or Hawaii
Favorite food?
Pretty much any pasta.
Random fun fact about you?
Any hobbies outside of your sport?
I like to hike, swim, spend time with friends and family, and play board and card games.
Favorite movie/TV show?
Probably Stranger Things currently, but I have always loved Harry Potter.
Looking forward to most about graduating?
I am most looking forward to not having to get up so early for school and being able to be on more of my own time and schedule. I am excited to meet new people and have new experiences and I am also looking forward to finding a career that works best for me.
Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to shout out?
Matthew Ganzen for giving me the opportunity to play on varsity for soccer as a freshman, Drew Rhodes for helping me grow as a young defender in club soccer, Dawn Crow and Cory Bougie for giving me the opportunity to continue playing soccer at UWSP, Jason Henry for coaching me in basketball from fourth grade to eighth grade and helping me grow as a player, Mark Anderson and Jay Neuenschwander for coaching me in AAU and always supporting me and pushing me to be the best player I can be which helped me grow.
Future Plans? (college, major, career, etc.)
