Alex Aoki is a senior at Green Bay East on the boys’ basketball and football teams.
Last season, he averaged more than seven points per game as a point guard and more than 15 yards a catch as a wide receiver.
Aoki said he loves competition and working out.
What’s it like to be a leader on the basketball team?
“I try to be a good example for my younger teammates because when I was a freshman, I watched the older guys play, and I saw how hard they worked. It made me practice harder to become better. Hopefully, I can set the same example for my teammates.”
Discuss the COVID-19 implications for you.
“At first, I was happy. I got a little break from school, but now because it's been more than eight months, I miss going to school and seeing everyone.”
What’s your most embarrassing basketball moment?
“In the eighth grade, someone made me fall doing a move for the first time at a basketball tournament in front of a bunch of people.”
A most memorable moment?
“Last year’s ‘Silent Night Game’ when my teammate Ashton Schultz hit a 3-pointer for the 10th point, and everyone started cheering. I remember smiling afterward. It was a great game for a great cause.”
If you could play for one pro team, who would it be?
“Either point guard for the Milwaukee Bucks or wide receiver or cornerback for the Green Bay Packers.”
What’s something you learned in the past week?
“Lots of people don't like politics.”
Who are you closest with on the team?
“Seth Campbell. We share similar goals and hang out. Whenever we play basketball, we push each other to be better.”
What’s your favorite thing about playing basketball for Coach Rosinski?
“He holds people accountable whenever they make a mistake. He makes sure they fix it so it doesn't happen again. He also dances in the locker room after we win.”
Talk about a volunteer experience.
“I helped out with the ‘Back-to-School Drive’ with my football teammates last year, which I thought was a good way for the team to help the community.”
If you could be somebody for a day, who would it be?
“Steph Curry on NBA game day.”
Who’s your role model?
“Kobe Bryant – I like hearing stories about basketball and his life.”
What’s something about you most people don’t know?
“Country music is great.”
What will be the best thing about East’s 2020-21 basketball team?
“I think we'll surprise lots of people and win lots of games.”
What are your college aspirations?
“I want to play basketball or football. I’m still undecided where.”
What’s the coolest trend you see today?
“Seeing people's songs become famous on TikTok.”
Who’s the funniest person on your team?
“Bill Felix, because he has the best celebrations after he scores.”
What’s your favorite thing to do in Green Bay in the summer?
“Hoop it up at the park with my teammates.”

“Rap.”
