Pintar’s save performance leads Bay Area Storm to 2-1 win over Notre Dame

Posted

Behind a standout performance in the crease, the Bay Area Storm rallied to a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame, despite being outshot nearly two-to-one.

Notre Dame struck first late in the opening frame, as Jack O’Brien found the back of the net with just under four minutes remaining in the first period. Holding a 1-0 lead, the Tritons continued to pressure, but the Storm’s defense and goaltending held firm.

The momentum began to shift at the 9:18 mark of the second period when sophomore Grant Forgette (Bay Port) beat the Notre Dame goaltender to tie the game at 1-1. The Storm then took their first lead of the night with 10:17 remaining in regulation, as freshman Aiden Buchan (Bay Port) netted what would prove to be the game-winner.

The story of the night, however, was the play of Bay Area goalie Justin Pintar (Seymour). Facing a relentless barrage, Pintar turned away 46 of the 47 shots he faced. While Notre Dame dominated the shot clock with a 47-23 advantage, the Storm’s efficiency and elite goaltending secured the narrow win.
