ASHWAUBENON – Running back Anthony Ficarri rushed for four touchdowns, Bohdan Schmidt added another and the Pulaski defense did the rest.
A week after scoring four times in his team’s victory over Green Bay Preble in Week 4, Ficarri again had a monster night in the Red Raiders’ 35-0 shutout victory over Ashwaubenon in Fox River Classic Conference (FRCC) action on Thursday, Sept. 17.
“It was a nice start for us tonight, but then Ashwaubenon tightened things up a bit,” Pulaski Coach Jerad Marsh said. “After halftime, we grabbed the momentum back and finished strong.”
In scoring four times, Ficarri now has 16 TDs through five games for Pulaski (4-1 overall, 2-1 FRCC).
“Anthony worked his tail off in the weight room this offseason and got his body prepared for the season,” Marsh said. “I think our defense came out and responded after giving up some points last week. They wanted to prove what type of defense we can be.”
Ficarri scored a pair of TDs in the first seven minutes of the game to give the Red Raiders a quick two-score lead.
The Jaguars (3-2, 1-2) couldn’t get much going offensively, but managed to contain Pulaski for the rest of the half.
In the third quarter, Ficarri rushed one in from 25 yards out before Schmidt added a five-yard TD run near the end of the quarter.
Ficarri ended the scoring halfway through the fourth quarter with his last score of the night.
In Week 6 action, the Red Raiders travel to undefeated West De Pere, while the Jaguars travel to Green Bay Southwest.
“The experience of already playing Bay Port this season will help us against West De Pere,” Marsh said. “When you walk off the bus, it’s always your goal to compete against the top teams in the state – that’s our mindset.”
