“TV Land: Prime Time for Good” is a Halloween fundraiser happening on Oct. 23, from 7
p.m. to 11 p.m. at Hotel Northland on 304 Adams St.
This will be the third year of The Canary Fund hosting a halloween ball, with the theme being new this year.
The Canary Fund was first established in 2019 after the inspirational work of James Rivett who was a change-maker.
Despite only being 7 years old the organization has given thousands of dollars to community members, “We’ve given out $225,000 since starting.”, says Carol Cassell, a volunteer board member for The Canary Fund.
The organization is built to give grants to individuals looking to make a change in their community, whether it is a local high schooler hoping to build a soccer locker, or funding a mural artist in downtown Green Bay. “It’s a unique niche that we fill...” Cassell said. “No one else is recognizing the work that they’re doing and giving them some grants.”
The Canary Fund was recognized this year for their work by the Aspen Institute, and is one of the 25 organizations asked to host the weaver awards for them in the U.S. The TV Land Halloween party is their big fundraising event for the year, it will offer a dance floor with a DJ. For food they will have a full pasta station and cash bar. Each area will have food and drinks themed after classic TV shows such as the Sopranos Spritz.
The event will have several TV themed games throughout the night, and a silent auction. Every dollar raised at this event will support The Canary Fund’s mission to support local change-makers.
The event has a $75 ticket per person and if you want to give back this is the organization to do that with, “This is as far from the gala as you can get but the most fun you’ll have supporting your community,” Cassell said.
