The Greater Green Bay Community celebrates One Community Fund Surpassing $1 million in donations

Posted

GREEN BAY – The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation (GGBCF) is celebrating their One Community Fund surpassing $1 million in contributions — a huge milestone.

The One Community Fund is a charity fund that collects donations in order to address the pressing matters of the community.

“By contributing financially to the fund, donors support timely, strategic investments in areas like housing, mental health, childcare and other emerging challenges,” said Erika Ritchie, GGBCF public relations and communications manager. “It’s also a flexible and easy way to give. There’s no minimum donation, and donors can contribute using a variety of assets.” The resources are then redistributed into different categories and applied to the necessary areas, making immediate and impactful contributions.

The fund brings community members together, strengthening bonds between people and demonstrating the effects of collaborative work.

Reaching an astonishing $1 million in contributions opens doors for more opportunities, potential to expand community aid and further increase the trust within it.

“Donors to the One Community Fund are fueling collaborative, upstream efforts to address deeply rooted challenges at a scale that’s hard to achieve through individual gifts or traditional grantmaking alone,” Ritchie said.

Originally launched in 2024, the One Community Fund invested $430,000 in the first year of its operation.

Funding went to supporting youth mental health in schools, helping ensure students have access to mental health care throughout the school year. Expanding childcare and growing the workforce, Young Woman’s Christian Association was able to open childcare classrooms, allowing development for teachers. And lastly, increasing housing access, a pilot program “The Tenant Success Fund” seeks to decrease homelessness by removing obstacles to rent and offering families comprehensive assistance.

The program also provides landlords with a specific fund for damages or unpaid rent, as well as continuous cooperation to guarantee tenants’ housing stability.

The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation is proud of the changes their One Community Fund is bringing.

“Our goal is to see more donors engage with the fund so we can deepen investment in collaborative solutions and respond even more effectively to the needs of our community,” Ritchie said.
