Triple Vision on display now at Neville Public Musuem

Posted

Featuring the works of three award-winning artists — Colleen Ansbaugh, Pat Bishop and Jean Sredl — Triple Vision, a fiber art exhibit, is on display at the Neville Public Museum now through Sept. 20.

“It’s their view on abstract realism, and interpretations of the natural world around us using quilting and fiber arts as their media,” said Devyn McIlraith, exhibition manager at the Neville Public Museum.

The exhibit is no display in the museum’s community exhibition space — a space where community members can submit suggestions for exhibits they’d like to see.

“That is founded in who we are as an institution, making sure that we are representing those in our community,” McIlraith said. “As an institution, having the ability to alow others to come in and showcase what they would like really opens up the door to connecting to different communities in our area… That’s how the community room was formed, so that we could partner with different institutions and different individuals who share their stories.”

The display challenges the conventional view of quilting and use of fabric.
When you think of quilts, you think of something that’s going to go on your bed,” McIlraith said. “These quilts are designed and created as pieces of art to display on your wall to show just what you can do with fiber that’s different from a quilt that you’re laying on your bed.”
