Two Questions for Congress

Posted

As we face another government shutdown crisis, I have two questions for you, our Congressional representatives in Washington.

1) On shutdowns: If federal employees lose their paychecks because you can’t reach a compromise to fund the government, why should you continue collecting yours? You’re paid to do a job—keep the government running. If any of us don’t do our jobs, we don’t get paid. Why should you?

2) On stock trading: Why should you profit from trading stocks in industries you regulate? You make decisions that move markets and shape policy, then trade on that position and knowledge. That’s not a perceived conflict of interest—it’s an actual one. When legislation can enrich your portfolio, how can we trust you’re voting for constituents rather than yourself ?
