More than six years ago, my family was changed forever when my mom and sister were murdered.
Not a day goes by that I don’t think about them or miss them.
While dealing with the shock and pain of the loss of people I love, I also had to navigate the criminal justice process — which is why I am such a strong supporter of Wisconsin’s crime victims’ rights constitutional amendment known as Marsy’s Law.
I don’t think many people understand just how traumatizing it can be for victims to move through criminal court.
Marsy’s Law provides strong rights, including the right to be heard, the right to be present and the right to restitution.
