Y4D Solutions for Learning works to increase math, reading skills

Posted

GREEN BAY – Y4D Solutions for Learning, LLC, a Green Bay based company, is assisting children in bettering themselves in the areas of math and reading.

Yelonda W. Harvey, of Y4D, a Navy veteran and educator, said the program uses the Kumon method to assist children with math and reading.

The Kumon method uses individualized learning and specially designed worksheets to help children excel in math and reading, potentially bringing them beyond their current grade level.

Y4D offers classes for children grades 3K through 12, with class sizes ranging from one to six.

Yelonda’s passion for education led her to start this company.

After years spent teaching homeschool, she received her masters in education and went on to start Y4D.

She renovated a former Cost Cutters location into a space that allows for full visibility, offering spaces for parents to watch their children learn.

“They’ll be able to see the kiddos working,” Yelonda explained.

The space includes multiple tables for children to work at, instructor spaces at the front of the room, and a reading library, offering books for all reading levels.

“There are no individual classrooms, they all work together,” Yelonda added.

Y4D recently received a $15,00 grant, which Yelonda says will be used for training expenses, new learning technology — such as iPads — and lighting changes within the building — changing them to LED.

Y4D is located at 2465 Lineville Rd. in Howard.

The Pass it Forward™ internship program is sponsored by the Packers Give Back and Nicolet National Bank.
