Bring Packers some Milwaukee magic in 27-19 victory at Lambeau

GREEN BAY – Following their first-ever World Series title, the Milwaukee Brewers brought some of their winning mojo to Lambeau Field.

Not only did the World Series Champs take the field after the first quarter, the Brew Crew brought along the whole gang including Bernie Brewer and the Barrel Man to countdown to ‘Roll out the Barrel’ and the famous Racing Sausages for a quick race in the endzone during the fourth quarter.

“That was crazy. It’s a mutual respect. Seeing them accomplish the biggest feat in baseball was pretty cool,” said Packers Safety Evan Williams. “That was probably the loudest crowd I’ve heard in Lambeau, besides some really big plays. That was a really cool moment for the City of Green Bay.”

After their last Thursday Night Football face-off against the Atlanta Falcons was a less than stellar performance by the Packers, resulting in a 35-14 defeat, the Packers seemed to garner some of the Brewers championship mentality, putting together a 27-19 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Quarterback Jordan Love went 30 of 41 for 288 yards with three touchdown passes.

Resilience proved to be key for the Packers as well as Running Back Josh Jacobs returned to Lambeau Field for the first time since having his name taken off the Commissioners Exempt List this season.

Jacobs rushed for only 39 yards on 21 carries but secured two touchdowns for the team on a four-yard reception and a 1-yard run.

Another notable moment in the Packers' resilience was Wide Receiver Christian Watson’s return to the field after suffering a chest injury in the second quarter.

Watson leapt in the air to secure a reception from Love but came down in a rough landing that had him coughing up blood.

Watson then exited the field in an ambulance and was rushed to the hospital where several tests were administered including chest x-rays and a CT scan.

“The doctors said I had to go get a CT. I was trying to beg them not to make me do that,” Watson said. “Everything looked good. I got a (broken) rib, but all the major stuff was all good. No internal bleeding or anything like that, so I was able to get back out there, but that was an experience for sure.”

After being cleared, Watson said he put his pads back on and was back on the field in less than an hour — though it felt like much longer.

“I told them before we even left that I wanted to go back out there, so I was going to make sure that I was going to get back out there if they let me,” said Watson. “I just put some extra padding and they had a molded pad that I just had to put around my ribs.”

Though not as high stakes as the World Series Championship game, Watson said that after being out so long with injuries — such as his torn ACL at the end of the 2024-25 season — nothing was going to keep him from returning so long as he was cleared by the doctors and Packers staff to return.

The Packers will look to take on the New England Patriots on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Gillette Stadium.
