It’s another traditional sign of the Autumn season when Brown County Parks opens its Rifle Range for hunters and shooting sport enthusiasts. On Saturdays and Sundays during the month of October, the Brown County Rifle Range will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. In November, the Rifle Range will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. until Nov. 19.
“Properly sighting in your firearm is an important aspect for any hunt, both for other hunters in the field and the potential harvest of an animal,” said Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. “Plus, it’s always enjoyable to be outdoors and put your marksmanship to the test.”
Brown County Parks will be honoring all veterans and active-duty military members with free admission on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11 with a military ID. The range is not just for shooters — there are archery and crossbow lanes available as well. Additionally, the Brown County Rifle Range has handicap-accessible booths. The facility may also be reserved by law enforcement agencies, hunter education instructors and security companies.
Hunters can also help community members in need by donating to the DNR’s deer donation program. Venison from donated deer is processed and distributed to Paul’s Pantry, 1513 Leo Frigo Way, Green Bay. Deer can be brought right to Paul’s Pantry and they will take care of the rest. You can learn more about Wisconsin’s Deer Donation Program at dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/hunt/donation.
Admission to the Brown County Rifle Range is $7 per person or gun/bow. Cash and credit card payments can be made on site, or you can buy in advance at browncountywi.gov/community/parks-department/general-information/rifle-range.
