How did you get started playing your sport?

I played many sports throughout elementary school, mainly basketball and soccer! I joined cross country/track in 5th grade and continued it from there. I dropped my other sports headed into high school to focus on running.

How has the balance between academics and athletics changed for you from freshman to senior year?

Balancing academics and athletics was definitely challenging at first but got much easier since my freshman year! You really learn how important time management is.

What is your favorite part about this sport? What is the most challenging part about this sport?

My favorite part is definitely getting to be a part of a team and growing/learning with my teammates!

I think the most challenging part for me is the mental part of cross country and trusting the training! I am always learning and finding ways to improve on that.

Where is your favorite place you’ve travelled for your sport?

I’ve mostly stayed in Wisconsin so far!

Is there a professional athlete you look up to? If so, why?

Allie Ostrander! I relate to a lot of things she shares and enjoys how she shares the positives as well as the struggles running.

What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?

I would say making it to state as a team my sophomore year! I was super close with the girls on the team and it was so fun to have another race together!

How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?

It went by so fast. Freshman year I was terrified of racing and freaked out before every race, as the years went on I learned to love racing and all that comes with it! I learned to be more confident and trust the process, for running and most things in life. As a captain this year, I love being able to help my teammates and the underclassman as well.

Do you have any pre-match rituals/routines/superstitions?

I always eat cold noodles before my race. I’ve done it since freshman year and still do it now haha! Another thing I do is always have honey stingers before a race, no matter the distance. Quite a few of my teammates have started doing the same!

Do you have a mantra/motivational quote/bible verse that helps you with your sport?

Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me - always a great reminder before a race.

Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to shout out?

I am so lucky I’ve had amazinggg coaches thoughout high school. Coach Hendricks, Joseph, and Heinberg have been there for me since my freshman year, always pushing me to do better and get outside my comfort zone! Coach Vandervest has helped me put together training plans during the off seasons, helping me come back after an injury and stay injury free.

Any hobbies outside of sports?

Yes! I love hiking, photography, and skiing!

What is the top song on your workout/warmup playlist?

Majority of my warm up playlist is Tate McRae. It’s always changing though!

Future Plans? (college, major, career, etc.)

Plan on running in college and currently in the recruiting process. I am looking to major in physical therapy or sports management.
