‘Presenting global artists close to home’

Virtuosi Live!, previously called the Brown County Civic Music Association, is coming up on its 100th season and they have lined up some exciting performances to celebrate this occasion.

The organization was founded in 1927 and “we have remained committed to enriching the cultural life of our region through diverse musical experiences ranging from classical and jazz to folk, world music and contemporary performances,” explained Laura Fisher-Bonvallet, president of Virtuosi Live!

Unlike other music organizations in the community, “Virtuosi Live! is a presenting organization. We curate and present internationally acclaimed touring artists and ensembles representing a broad spectrum of musical styles and cultures from across the globe,” Fisher-Bonvallet said.

In addition to separating the organization from others, the name Virtuosi Live! was chosen because it better reflects the group.
“‘Virtuosi’ evokes artistic excellence and exceptional musicianship, while ‘Live!’ captures the energy and immediacy of experiencing great performances in person,” said Fisher-Bonvallet. This idea was also reflected in the organization’s tagline, “Presenting Global Artists. Close to Home.”

This season boasts a variety of artists and groups across multiple genres, offering a diverse set of experiences for the audience to enjoy.

“This season, I am especially looking forward to Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performance,” said Fisher-Bonvallet. “It is an extraordinary opportunity for our community to experience one of the most influential and celebrated musicians of our time right here in Green Bay.”

The 100th season also represents a new chapter for Virtuosi Live! as they have partnered with the Weidner Center in order to provide a larger space for performers and audiences.

For those looking to get involved in Virtuosi Live! or the performing arts, there are many opportunities.

“Individuals can attend performances, become subscribers and members, volunteer, support the organization through donations or sponsorships and even explore board service opportunities. Community involvement has always been essential to our success,” explained Fisher-Bonvallet.
