St. Vincent de Paul Green Bay has officially opened its relocated east-side thrift store to 1831 Main St., Green Bay, completing a move from 920 Weise St.
The new location gives a fresh start to the former Planet Fitness building, which closed its doors in 2021.
St. Vincent de Paul purchased the location in fall of 2025 and began interior demolition soon after. Updates to the building include adding a donation canopy and drive through in front of the store, construction of a new loading dock, building walls to designate retail from merchandise processing, adding five fitting rooms, plus fresh paint, fixtures, and flooring.
“We are grateful and blessed with this location,” said Bill Gosse, executive director of St. Vincent de Paul Green Bay. “This site is retail-friendly with approximately 18,000 cars passing each day and our team has done a tremendous job creating a modern retail space. We look forward to welcoming the community to shop and donate.”
Several retail-focused teammates and volunteers will transfer to the Main Street site, from the iconic blue and white building at 920 Weise St.
The Weise Street location will continue to house the organization’s business offices, central processing, and resource center, while adding the discount Dig & Save operation, located at 2121 Van Deuren St. No job reductions will occur and volunteer opportunities will remain at both locations.
“Our thrift stores are essential to funding the emergent needs we meet each day in the community,” Gosse explained. “Whether it’s rental assistance to prevent eviction and homelessness, store vouchers for free clothing to someone who has lost everything, or providing hygiene products to those who are unhoused, the stores help provide this and much more. We believe the location of this store will make us stronger in meeting community needs.”
