GREEN BAY – Applications are currently being accepted for small businesses in Green Bay to receive grants of up to $7,500. This is thanks to the new Microenterprise Grant program funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through federal money.
The Microenterprise Grant program supports the city’s “goal of making entrepreneurship more accessible,” said Jessica Maes, business support specialist for the City of Green Bay. “We hope to help as many small businesses as possible. Grants are available for up to $7,500 each, so the number of businesses we can support with this funding will depend on the amount each business receives.”
“This grant opportunity is open to for-profit businesses with five or fewer employees, including the owner,” added Maes. “Businesses must have or be planning a physical location in Green Bay, be in good standing with the City, and the owner must meet certain household income requirements.”
Grants through this program can be used for a variety of purposes, including improvements to buildings, equipment, technology, marketing and lease expenses.
Small businesses are crucial to the economy and community, and supporting them is just as important.
The Microenterprise Grant program and similar programs for small businesses are part of this support.
Maes closed with this: “Starting or growing a business comes with risk and takes courage. Access to capital to get started or to grow is often one of the biggest challenges. We want businesses to know that Green Bay is a community that supports them.”
