Civic Media has launched a new full-service music format for Brown County with FM 97.9 / AM 1590 WGBW now broadcasting “Local News and Timeless Hits.”
The station features hit music from the late 1950s to the early 1970s, showcasing artists including Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Neil Diamond, The Beach Boys and The Beatles.
Civic Media Sr. Vice President Chris Moreau said, “There is a demand for this iconic music and I’m proud that the company’s commitment to local journalism remains. We believe it will be a popular vehicle for local advertisers as well. I have spent many years personally and professionally in the Green Bay market and I’m confident that this will be a success.”
The station features an on-air lineup of familiar voices that Green Bay listeners will immediately recognize, including Dan Markus from 6-9 a.m., Laura McKenna from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., Eric Westphal from 2-6 p.m. and “Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba” from 6-8 p.m.
Pete Schwaba’s entertainment and interview show “Nite Lite” continues as a holdover from WGBW’s previous news/talk format.
Civic Media Vice President of Programming Aaron Carreno said, “Our refreshed lineup is now 100% local and welcomes even more familiar voices and personalities to WGBW who have built their lives in Northeastern Wisconsin and know what makes this part of the state one of the most desirable places to live.”
WGBW will operate as a full-service station, providing local coverage with Lisa Hale delivering news at the top and bottom of every hour and Mike Clemens providing sports updates throughout the day.
Listeners can tune in at 97.9 FM or 1590 AM. The station is also available for streaming at wgbw.fm and through the free Civic Media app.
